We find and understand that many ranges in the area teach the HQL Maryland Handgun Qualification License training, but briefly cover the fundamentals of shooting. You pay the money, get grouped into groups of 10-20 students that all shoot a .22 caliber handgun. The other instructors out there are doing the bare minimum as you are just another person wanting to get a license. What they fail to realize is they just created a liability not only to themselves but to the general public. That includes their family members this firearm is being used to protect. We see it every time we visit a range. Unsafe practices, improper shooting position, boxes and boxes of ammo and targets being purchased with the precept of if you shoot more rounds, you become a better shooter. This is false and you all are range bait. If you really want to learn how to shoot, sign up for our training and limit your time at a range because shooting more does not make you a better shooter. Bad habits sometimes will die with you.
